Medicare For All is Good For Everyone

Medicare For All is Good For Everyone

On Wednesday, September 3rd, the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners will vote on a Medicare for All resolution in support of the Medicare for All bills in Congress (HR-3069 in the House and S-1506 in the Senate).

If this resolution passes, Mecklenburg will join over 130 localities nationwide and four in North Carolina (Carrboro, Durham, Orange County and Greensboro) that have already passed similar measures. It would send a powerful message about North Carolina’s support for healthcare reform.

Medicare for All is a proposal for a single-payer healthcare system where the government would provide insurance to all residents under an expanded and improved version of Medicare. It is the only universal healthcare system proposal under consideration in Congress and the only existing proposal that will eliminate medical debt, make healthcare affordable and accessible, and ensure quality care for all Americans.

Congresswoman Alma Adams (NC-12) is an original cosponsor of the legislation in the U.S. House. of Representatives.

Join us on Wednesday, September 3 at the County Commission vote to show your support for the resolution. Activists will gather at 5:30pm outside the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center at 600 E 4th St (metered parking is available on 3rd St).

Accessibility: we understand that there is limited accessibility in the chamber itself where the Board meets. There is more space and video coverage of the proceedings in the hallway. To arrange assistance into the chamber, please contact Doug Robinson at Doug dbrobin53@gmail.com.
